Read about and view all the photos from my latest project ‘When We Get There’ on my site.

Here’s one more for the time being. This is one of the chosen eight and also features my laser cut netting ^-^

I’ll be putting up all my finals on my site by the end of the week, along with some paragraphs explaining my thinking. Will keep you posted.

Laser Cutting!

I’d already done some samples on my netting to test out the capabilities and compatibility of the pattern, net and laser cutter. Today I properly cut my lace design out :3

It was a little tricky to do because to repeat the pattern you have to be really careful about matching it up - which is proved difficult on the machine, so some of it’s not perfect but I’m happy with the result.

Photosss…

Little preview of my design:

I forgot to take a camera to take progress photos (argh!), but here’s an old photo of what the laser cutter looks like in action:

(twas a plastic book cover)

The cut out net ^o^

Some bits are falling weirdly because of how I’m holding it, but I think it looks pretty goood.

On my head lol >.< I think it looks nice layered up; you can just about make out the owl  :3

I’m planning on using it in some of my shoots and possibly in the final installation of all my work.

One of the better shots from the test shoot I did on Sunday. It all went a bit wrong really. I was planning on doing it on friday evening but it decided to pour with rain, so that was a no go. Had to do it sunday morning instead which was the wrong time of day but I worked with it.

The shoot is for my Insomnia Project. I wanted to get a feel for the look of the shots I want as I’m planning on having a series outside on location, with me looking restless and eerie as I attempt to sleep.

One thing I know is I don’t think I’m cut out to be a model. It doesn’t feel natural for me to be behind the camera and I don’t like relinquishing control of being in front of the lens. This being said I think it is important for me to feature in the images as the project is so personal to me. We’ll see how it goes.
